How to reset my Joomla administrator password?

**Follow procedure involve direct update to database. We highly suggest you backup the database before perform the steps.

To reset the Joomla administrator password, you can do it with with a simple MySQL query.

1. Login our phpmyadmin, https://phpmyadmin.mysite4now.com/
2. Select Joomla's database from the drop-down menu on the left
3. Open the SQL tab
4. In the text field write the following SQL query:
UPDATE jos_users SET password = MD5( 'new_password' ) WHERE username = 'admin';

Note: "new_password" - replace this with the new password you wish to use.
"admin" - replace this if your admin username is different.

Once you are ready, click on the GO button to submit the query. If everything goes fine without errors, you should be able to login to Joomla with the new password.

How to install Joomla components/modules?

You have two ways to install Joomla components/modules from the Joomla administrator's panel.

1. Upload and install with Joomla's admin panel:

Login administrator's panel --> Extension --> Install/uninstall --> Upload the component's archive file using the Browse button.

2. Upload with FTP and install with Joomla's admin panel:

First unzip the packet in your local computer, then upload the packet folder to the server using FTP.
After upload, login administrator's panel --> Extension --> Install/uninstall --> Install from Directory --> Type in the full path of your packet folder --> install

Note: You can read the installation instruction included in the component package. Some component/module have special install steps

How to change the Joomla templates?

In order to change your Joomla template, first you have to log in its administration panel.

Login administrator's panel --> Extension --> Template Manager --> Site --> choose the Templates --> mark the new template as default by click the button on the top right hand corner.

How to fix "Another Component is already using directory" when install the coponent in joomla

When you tried to install component via joomla admin panel and get some error like below:

Installation error:
file or directory in d:\hosting\member\username\joomlasubfolder\components\com_birdboard has been exist!

That is because the subfolder of the component has been created automatically before when trying installing.

Solution:
Need to delete the corresponding subfolders of the component under
../components/
../administrator/components/
In above case, you need to remove or rename folder \com_birdboard\

The default installation does not install sample data. You may get sample_data.sql from joomla package and run in your mysql client.
